Facelift SMAS

Loss of elasticity and sagging contours in the lower face can give a more tired appearance. A SMAS facelift gently tightens the skin while also adjusting deeper tissues to ensure a natural and longer-lasting result. It can be combined with a neck lift, eyelid surgery, brow lift, fat transfer, or chin/neck liposuction.

    Before and After the Procedure

    How does facelift SMAS work?

    Consultation and planning

During the consultation, the doctor will assess skin quality, elasticity, and the distribution of facial volume. Together, you will discuss your expectations and decide whether to proceed with a standalone SMAS facelift or a combination with a neck lift, blepharoplasty, brow lift, chin/neck liposuction, or fat transfer for subtle volume enhancement.

    Precise work on the SMAS

Under general anesthesia, discreet incisions are made around the ear and into the hairline. The surgeon releases and repositions the deeper SMAS tissue layer, and may tighten supportive ligaments if needed. The skin is then gently adjusted to avoid excessive tension, achieving a natural lift of the cheeks and a sharper jawline.

    Completion and dressing

After careful hemostasis, the incisions are closed with fine sutures, and a small drain may be placed temporarily to remove fluids. The area is covered with a light dressing or elastic bandage to stabilize the new shape and reduce swelling. Once awakened, the patient remains under medical supervision and typically stays 1–2 days.

    Post-operative Course

    Day 2
Application of a hydrogel mask (as recommended), healing check-up
    Week 1
    Rest, elastic bandage as instructed
    After 1 week
Check-up with the doctor, suture removal
    After 2 weeks
Most swelling and bruising subside, return to light work
    4–6 weeks
Gradual return to sports, contour stabilization
