What is gynecomastia?
Gynecomastia refers to the enlargement of male breast gland tissue, which can be caused by hormonal imbalance, genetics, or excess weight.
How do I know if I have gynecomastia or just fat?
During your consultation, the doctor will assess whether the issue is due to excess fat, glandular tissue, or a combination of both. In some cases, a breast ultrasound may be recommended.
Is the procedure painful?
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. After the procedure, you may feel mild tightness or tenderness, but any discomfort is typically well managed with standard pain relievers.
Will there be any scars after the procedure?
The incisions are made along the edge of the areola and are usually very discreet once healed. With proper care, the scars gradually fade and are not prominent.
Is the result permanent?
Yes, unless there is a significant hormonal change or extreme weight gain, the results of gynecomastia surgery are long-lasting.
